Careers in Cybersecurity: CAE to Hold a Virtual Career Fair during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is the 15th annual celebration of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Throughout this month, InCyberDefense will feature a series of articles designed to improve the cybersecurity awareness of consumers, cybersecurity professionals, cybersecurity students and businesses.

Are you seeking a career in cybersecurity? On Friday, October 5, the Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cybersecurity will host the second annual CAE Virtual Career Fair to help cybersecurity students connect with potential employers. This online career fair will take place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. ET (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PT).

Registration Is Free

American Public University System (APUS) received its designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) in April 2018. This rare honor was awarded to APUS by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Due to this designation, AMU and APU students can register for the CAE Virtual Career Fair at no cost.

Multiple Organizations Expected to Attend CAE Virtual Career Fair

Organizations from various fields will attend this virtual career fair. These employers include:

  • DHS
  • FBI
  • NSA
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • EnergySec
  • Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
  • Anki, Inc.
  • DataCentric Solutions, Inc.
  • TalaTek, LLC

The employers at the CAE Virtual Career Fair are seeking to fill various positions, such as:

  • Internships
  • Part-time positions
  • Full-time positions

Preparing for the CAE Virtual Career Fair

If you plan to attend this virtual career fair, be sure to upload your resume prior to the event. Make sure your resume includes any cybersecurity experience or certifications you have. If you need extra help with your resume, contact Career Services for more information.

Also, set up a profile and research the participating employers after you register. The CAE Virtual Career Fair offers you the chance to have live chats with potential employers, so make the most of this opportunity by doing your research ahead of time and asking the employer thoughtful questions.

The career fair also features a Networking Lounge with a group chat feature. These chats are a helpful way to make contacts in the cybersecurity field and network with your peers.
