Cyber Awareness Month Cyber Snapshot: Angela Hill
Hometown: Lapeer, MI
Current Position: Security Practice Manager
On why cybersecurity is important to her:
As someone who spent nearly a decade protecting U.S. interests abroad and along our borders with intelligence operations, I developed a passion for helping Americans understand why they are targets from our national adversaries. Our data and relationships are targets, I hope to build that gap on educating civilians on the motives behind threat actors.
On why she loves technology:
At heart, I am an artist, and from the STEAM model, I believe my love of technology is from the Art aspect. I love the design aspect of building collaborative environments leveraging the latest technology. Additionally, I believe technology can be the conduit for creating a shared consciousness and breaking down silos to increase collaboration and teamwork. My work in the intelligence field gave me this vantage point.
On what she would recommend to others considering following her career path:
Find your passions, allow for continuous learning, always educate, and provide mentorship.
On how the intelligence community has helped her achieve her career goals:
My Navy and Intelligence contractor career gave me the platform to understand the value of protecting IT environments.
Her future goals:
- Co-Author a book for children on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math)
- Bring mindfulness to the workplace
- Help Veterans transition to civilian life
Her favorite quote:
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible. it’s yours.” ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
